Track Progress in Copenhagen with the Climate Scoreboard

December 14, 2009

If you’ve been watching the news, chances are you’ve heard about the United Nations Climate Change Conference that’s been taking place this week in Copenhagen, Denmark – where the nations of the world are coming together to develop a global climate treaty.

To help people understand what’s at stake, Climate Interactive has put together this cool Climate Scoreboard widget, which uses simulation to calculate the long-term impact of the proposals under consideration in Copenhagen – as well as what would happen if nothing’s done, and where the United Nations' goals are. This scoreboard will update automatically throughout the talks, which end on December 18. You can find out more about the Climate Scoreboard at ClimateInteractive.org

We here at Nike are passionate about finding solutions to climate change. That’s why we’re both participating in the talks at Copenhagen, and taking steps as a company to reduce our own environmental footprint.

The Nike Reuse-A-Shoe and Nike Grind programs are proud to be part of this movement by finding new uses for recycled materials, which can reduce CO2 emissions substantially over using virgin materials. But know that this is just the start. As environmental targets at Nike – and around the world – get even more ambitious, we are going to continue to look for innovative ways to recycle, reduce material use and more. So be on the lookout for great things from Nike Reuse-A-Shoe and Nike Grind in 2010!
