Innovative Surfaces Using Nike Grind.

From the rubber in a running track to the carpet padding beneath your feet, Nike Grind – a raw material made from recycled athletic shoes and Nike manufacturing scrap – can be used in all types of surfaces.

To build these surfaces, Nike works with industry-leading surfacing companies, building long-term partnerships and developing innovative, premier products, including:

Nike Grind’s partners then install these surfaces in locations around the world – from famed locations to local schools, universities and even private home courts. See what people have to say about Nike Grind surfaces.

Safety & Environmental Benefits

Safe and environmentally sensitive, a surface made using Nike Grind presents a number of benefits over other surfaces:

  • Meets consumer safety standards.
Because Nike Grind is made from recycled shoes, it meets consumer safety standards by design, unlike many other products, such as those made with recycled tires.
  • Environmentally sensitive.
Our partners’ surfaces typically contain between 10 and 40 percent Nike Grind material, and many contain additional recycled materials in their composition.
  • Can contribute to LEED certification.
Nike Grind material can provide points toward LEED certification, depending the on the quantity used and the amount of other sustainable materials used in your project.
